Internal Marketing

I think internal marketing is one of the most important things a marketing leader should be doing.

I define it as partnering and communicating with your internal teams to help them do their jobs more effectively while giving the marketing team leverage.

One form of internal marketing is a weekly Slack message I send every Monday to the whole company referred to as the Monday Marketing Update.

It's usually about 500 words that gives folks a fairly detailed picture of what's happening from a pipeline standpoint, other marketing initiatives and campaigns and peels back the curtain on some of our team members.

The other one we do every Tuesday is the weekly GTM enablement update coming from our head of product marketing.

This email is much more actionable and specific. it gives people across the different customer-facing GTM teams, actionable things they can use and do to do their job more effectively.

Things like updated/new product enablement material, new offers to share with buyers and customers, new or updated content, upcoming campaigns, and product launch material, etc.

The point is to find ways to regularly and consistently communicate with your internal teams. Doing this will help build or strengthen partnerships between them and you.
